SRAM Force 22 HRD Rear Brake Overview
The SRAM Force 22 HRD Rear Brake combines an 11-speed DoubleTap rear shifter with a hydraulic road disc brake lever and Post Mount rear caliper.
This version uses a right-hand lever with an 1800mm hydraulic hose. In the standard EU configuration, the right lever operates the rear brake.
However, when used as part of a compatible brake pair, the hydraulic hoses can be swapped for a UK-style setup where the right lever operates the front brake.
The hydraulic system provides strong braking with controlled modulation and relatively low hand effort. Meanwhile, the mechanical 11-speed shifter provides precise SRAM Exact Actuation rear shifting.
Brake rotor/disc is not included.

Braking and Shifting Performance
The Force 22 right control performs two functions from one lever assembly.
The carbon brake lever controls the hydraulic rear brake. Meanwhile, the DoubleTap paddle controls a compatible SRAM 11-speed rear derailleur.
As a result, riders can brake and shift from the same road control without moving their hands away from the hoods or drops.
The hydraulic brake also requires relatively little hand effort. In addition, its progressive feel helps the rider control braking force rather than simply switching between on and off.
DoubleTap®
DoubleTap is SRAM’s mechanical road shifting system.
A single shift paddle controls both directions of a gear change. A short movement produces one shift direction, while a longer sweep operates the other.
Therefore, riders do not need separate paddles for upshifts and downshifts.
On this right Force 22 lever, DoubleTap controls the compatible 11-speed rear derailleur.
ZeroLoss™
ZeroLoss reduces unwanted movement before the shift mechanism engages.
When the rider presses the paddle, the mechanism begins pulling or releasing the shift cable immediately. Therefore, there is less dead movement before the derailleur responds.
As a result, gear changes feel direct and precise.
Exact Actuation™
Exact Actuation controls the relationship between shifter cable movement and rear derailleur movement.
SRAM developed the system to provide consistent indexing across compatible mechanical road drivetrains. Therefore, correct setup helps the derailleur move accurately between each cassette sprocket.
This right-hand shifter is designed for compatible SRAM 11-speed Exact Actuation rear derailleurs.
Reach Adjust
Different riders need different lever positions because hand size and finger length vary.
Reach Adjust allows the brake and shift controls to sit closer to or further from the handlebar.
In addition, SRAM provides independent adjustment for the brake and shift lever positions. As a result, the rider can tailor both controls to their preferred hand position.
Hydraulic Braking
The HRD hydraulic system transfers lever input to the rear caliper through the 1800mm hose.
Because hydraulic pressure operates the brake, the system can deliver strong braking force with relatively low hand effort.
The lever also includes an easy-access bleed port. Therefore, routine hydraulic servicing is more straightforward when the brake requires bleeding.
EU / UK Brake Configuration
This unit comes in the standard EU configuration:
Right lever → Rear brake
For a UK-style setup, the hydraulic hoses can be swapped when this control forms part of a compatible front and rear SRAM brake pair.
After changing the hose configuration, the installer must correctly connect, bleed and test the hydraulic system before riding.
